Digital agency develops and launches mobile app to help major university track building occupancy safely
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., November 17, 2020 – Visus LLC, a digital agency, has created and launched a new iOS and Android mobile app for monitoring building occupancy and access. Designed for a major California university in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the app allows users to ensure facility use remains at a safe level and potential contact tracing, if necessary.
As the university works together with its professors and researchers to continue to operate safely, monitoring occupancy levels in shared spaces is essential to promote a healthy environment. Each building and room have a predetermined maximum occupancy threshold, and the mobile app monitors and records data on the number of entries and exits to make sure safety precautions are followed.
Using the app is simple. Those who need to access the university’s buildings and rooms download the mobile app, login, and then use it to scan QR codes each time they enter and exit. The data collected by the app is secured and made available to university personnel to let them know which facilities have been accessed and the number of people in each space at any given time. Using this data, the university can enforce social distancing policies and adjust its operations as necessary to promote safety.
Visus created and deployed the app within just four weeks, and it is now available on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.
